The research agenda of this interdisciplinary team in Economics and Management is to study how firms actually deal with new technologies in our societies, and whether this shifts this impact for better (e.g. increased performance and human inclusion…) or for worse (e.g. threat of rising inequalities and market power). This agenda first requires developing and adapting advanced Machine Learning methods in order to construct (and validate via detailed case studies) the first quasi-population-wide dataset about technology adoption by firms and workers. It is then articulated into two main thematic axes, each focusing on a different set of factors that we believe have the potential to shed light on our general question: firms’ interactions with their overall environment (infrastructure and geography, firms’ markets), and labor organizations both within and outside firms.
