Mariona Segú will participate in the 13th Meeting of the Urban Economics Association that will take place the upcoming October in Columbia University, in New York City. She will present the paper entitled “Do short-term rental platforms affect rents? Evidence from Airbnb in Barcelona” which is a collaboration with Miquel-Àngel Garcia-López, from Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona and Jordi Jofre Monseny and Rodrigo Martínez Mazza from IEB in Universitat de Barcelona. The paper assesses the impact of peer-to-peer platforms into the housing market by identifying the causal effect of the entry of airbnb on rents and prices.
