Valérie NICOLAS-HEMAR participated at the conference Journées Normandes de la Recherche sur la Consommation in Angers on November 26-27. She presented the paper co-written with Pascale Ezan and Mathilde Gollety, entitled : ““Milk comes from cows, and eggs are made by hens” The children’s representation of natural in food”.
Abstract:
This exploratory research aims to identify the children’s representations of the term “natural” in food. Through a qualitative methodology based on an educational game, the authors point out that the representations of natural among the 120 interviewed children consist of six dimensions: food origin, the absence of chemicals, non-processed food, taste, health and commensality. The findings suggest that children’s representations of natural are actually quite similar to those of adults.
