Abstract: We develop a theoretical model for the allocation of time and consumption within the household. The model explicitly distinguishes between joint and private leisure of the two partners in the household. We employ a Danish time use survey from 2001 which has information on time allocation and assignable goods. We empirically test our model using simulated minimum distance estimation.
