The 35th annual statistical report of the Secours Catholique – Caritas France on the state of poverty in France was released this Thursday, November 9th. The 2017 edition was co-written by Jean-Noël Senne and shows that global poverty is stagnating and even increasing among the most vulnerable populations: families, children, young adults and foreign citizens. Using large sample data collected all over the country, it additionally breaks downs eight usual prejudices about the poor regarding unemployment, access to social benefits or migrant rights, and calls for urgent policies that aim at reducing economic inequalities and improving social cohesion.
