HDR Thesis Abstract: This Habilitation thesis examines how firms shape globalization and vice versa. Three main axes structure this analysis: the impact of trade liberalization on firms’ market power under different preference structures, the analysis of trade policies and their political economy, and the study of multinational firms’ tax avoidance strategies and international tax reforms. Recent research deepens the understanding of interactions between trade and tax policies, proposes regulatory frameworks for fiscal and environmental “leakage effects.” This integrated approach illuminates the mechanisms of reciprocal influence between firms and globalization, and the resulting regulatory challenges.
