Thomas Renault joined RITM, Université Paris-Saclay in September 2025 as Full Professor of Economics. He was previously Associate Professor at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and has served as a scientific advisor to the French Council of Economic Analysis and as consultant at the Banque de France, focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models. Thomas Renault's research lies at the intersection of economics, finance, and technology. He specializes in applying machine learning and textual analysis to study how media and social media shape economic and financial behavior, with applications ranging from asset pricing to political economy and public health. He has also led several large-scale data projects, including recent work on fact-checking dynamics on social media, misinformation, and the adoption of generative AI.
