Master of Economics: Overview

The Master of Economics is a two-year general research training in economics. The first year (M1) is certified by ENS Paris-Saclay and the second year (M2) by Paris-Saclay University, in cooperation with AgroParisTech, CentralSupélec and University of Evry-Val d’Essonne. The program focuses over two years on:

  • Fundamental knowledge in microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics in M1
  • Discovery courses (big data mining, environmental, experimental or gender economics) in M1
  • Electives courses (network economics, urban & regional economics, political economics) in M2
  • A master thesis supervised by a faculty member in M2

The program is a demanding training entirely in English, and requires strong knowledge in quantitative methods. It benefits from an exchange network with 6 partners in Europe: University of Barcelona, Humboldt University of Berlin, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, University of Bologna, University Carlos III of Madrid, and University of Porto.

Admission process

Students should hold a bachelor either in economics or in mathematics. Other degrees in sciences and social sciences from best universities will be considered.

Objectives

The aim of this program is to train highly motivated to students, looking for a large scale of knowledge in economics and related quantitative skills, and interested by academic research. The program enables students to continue with a PhD thesis at the Paris-Saclay Doctoral School, but also to pursue careers requiring high-level of expertise in economics, in the private sector, international organizations and public institutions.
